Origin of torsional eye movements

• riMLF burst neurons cause the contraction of eye muscles which not only rotate the eye vertically but also torsionally.
• The two sides are not equal.
• riMLF neurons on the right side act on muscles with a clockwise (CW) action (as seen in the figure).
• Those on left act on muscles with counterclockwise (CCW) action.
• Neurons in the INC tonic produce a tonic component which keeps the eye position deviated from center both vertically and torsionally
